On Friday 25th January 2019, Will Wardrop the chairman of Teviotdale Young Farmers gave a truly memorable performance – with his newly dyed ‘Marilyn Monroe’ isk colour of hair – in their biannual pantomime. George had previously said to Will that he would be free to be cast and take part if needed so it seemed to lodge in the mind his presence that night. He would have enjoyed it that’s for sure!

The play was ably written by Jimmy Shanks depicting many local characters from Hawick and surrounding farms. At the conclusion of the night Will and Douglas MacNeil sat on the stage and had all their hair shaved off to enhance the final amount raised from the two nights of the pantomime takings even further. The boys had been very brave to let Mary and her brother, James, be the ‘hairdressers’ for the night and take off the first few strips of hair before somebody more able finished the job off!

Well done boys and to all that took part and made it possible. We were very touched and emotional to receive our first ever cheque with the George Crawford Legacy Trust written across it, £1000 raised – amazing!
